Well, I started this fairy this week and i am moving along...considering i"ve made 2 heads..2 pair of hands and 3 fabric bodies with armatures!!!! I'm not all there when it comes to proportion... i think i get so excited to create this thing...that i dont have the mindset to get "technical" and just figure out proportion...
Ok...this week, i have since ordered a proportion wheel from Jack Johnston, and Katherine Deweys "elvenwork" mats that show proportion of man , woman, and child...they are pretty cool looking, protected in plastic!...
But this doll is staying this propotion, and it looks good to me !....well...the hands are a little big...but she'll hold something...haha...that takes care of that!!! This fairy is a gift! check her out...when i did the (fairy 7 heads_) length thing, It REALLY looked freaky ... i dont know what i'm missing...maybe my style is just a "Bigger head!?"....any input might help!!!

I don't think I have ever seen an expression on any of your dolls,as the one on this one. Her eyes are more expressive, like she is showing compassion. I really like this head. What are the tools I see...the wooden board and the big hand? Is it poseable. That's pretty neat. I always look forward to seeing what you are up to. A big hug from me to you
I think she is proportioned. and beyond beautiful. Just LOVE that crown. Again, amazing!
colleen, i thought the same thing as evelyn, this doll looks much different than your others
I remember you said you wanted to do one that was more fantasy-like...this one is
Hi, Colleen. I took a trip through your blog today and enjoyed the trip immensely. Your new fairy doll is beautiful, as usual. I agree with Evelyn, the eyes are great. I like the ears also. The idea of having the mermaid hold dancing slippers is terrific. Don't forget to post a picture of the finished doll. You know how much I admire your talent. Keep it up, girl. You're great.

I haven't made that many dolls...but, I don't like the proportions they give that are supposedly comparable to human anatomy. I like to make my legs much longer..especially if she is to wear a long gown... it gives the overall appearance of more elegance to me. I don't want a dumpy short thing in a dress that could appear more elegant if there were height.... but, that's just my own thoughts on it. Maybe because I am short...and wish I could have longer legs..hahahhah.....
I'm off to scroll through more of your blog now.....
