New Faces in "first stage" of refinement |
|
I just cant pinpoint a tail color for her....maybe if I wig her first..hmmm |
So its the end of November...so many dolls to finish...by Christmas! But new faces keep popping up in my head...and I have to keep stopping what I'm trying to complete...to just "Quickly " sculpt that face that I keep seeing....ugh....feeling crazy with this energy! Does that ever happen to you? I bet that it does...but I think sometimes we stop it from coming by trying to Follow THE RULES!!!!... November and December are always powerful months for me....I guess for most people too...Thanksgiving and Christmas. This time is "Magical"..... sometimes overwhelming...but its always"Exciting".... and Dec is also my Birthday...a double whammy of energy and focusing on what I "Want" and what I "have" to do! haha
Anyway...here are some dolls that absolutely must get completed!!! One will be going to Holland to my Over the top...talented friend Marijke van ooijen....she's gotta be "real special"!!! And another is going to Totowa NJ..to my good friend Alison. I grew up with Alison...and when I was 15 she was in a very bad car accident...I made her this plaster decoupaged book with a little girl in it...and 35 years later...she still has it! Sometimes friends are there to remind us of our future dreams and our "now" accomplishments...A never ending story!
So I am also working on an etsy shop where I will sell some dolls and also some sculpting tools and tutorials....Time...hmmm..I guess I'll figure it out as I go along....no big plan! haha (Not that there really is ever a big plan....)

Mink, pink velvet and crystals...she will be beautiful! And the cake on her head is a great idea! I just love your dolls, they are so 'you' and full of life, just like you! You inspire me to keep trying!
Colleen...your faces are changing..I think it's Ankie's influence. Gorgeous dolls...what kind of watercolors do you use. I know Marlaine uses only water color for her paper clay dolls, but I've never tried it.
Hi Susan....thank you for stopping in and for the nice words....the painted dolls are in acrylics. Yes..ANKIE has influenced me with her "other wordly" look...just love it!...that was the first I used water colors and we just used cheap paints, from Michaels ...they worked beautifully! Then they are mat varnished ..,but I'm having a hard time finding mat varnish for water colors....its clear that is brushed on...not sprayed....
What a beautiful face on this doll, I enjoy and admire your work!
Ankie and Marlaine use this weird varnish that comes from the Netherlands, you can't get it over here, but Marlaine said she could ship it. I'd love to get some too. It's really smooth.
Wow Colleen this doll looks gorgeous already. I love the face. It is has such a soft expression.
Cool works! How much do you need to create one doll?
I love the watercolours for her skin! I'd never considered that for a doll's skin but you're wight, if it can be sealed in some way it would work just fine. Her face is lovely. I understand about the cramming of ideas and the pressure of time as Christmas gets closer. Never enough time...
Happy Thanksgiving and thank you for sharing these photos of a doll in progress.
